Growth

Millbrook is among the fastest growing cities in Alabama. From 2000 to 2009, Millbrook’s population grew 63% to its present day estimated population of 16,918. Exceptional residential developments in natural settings, good public schools and community amenities are among the reasons newcomers are attracted to the Millbrook area.
Located 10 miles north of Montgomery in the Montgomery MSA, Millbrook is the largest city in Elmore County. Its close proximity to the state capital and its accessibility to Interstate 65 Exits 176, 179 and 181 afford residents excellent educational, career, cultural and recreational opportunities.

Millbrook's growth, location and leadership continue to successfully attract new businesses to the city. The Hillcrest Center anchored by a Wal-Mart Super Center opened mid-2007 near Interstate 65, Exit 181. This highly visible Interstate site will be the hub for future commercial activity. Restaurants and major retailers are also located along Alabama Highway 14, a prime commercial corridor.

Millbrook residents enjoy the best of both worlds; the comfort and community a small city offers as well as all the conveniences essential for busy lifestyles.

Quality of Life

Quality of life is important to Millbrook residents. Good public schools serve the educational needs of the community. Healthcare providers are located in the city and major healthcare facilities are located in nearby Montgomery.
Nature, wildlife and waterways also define life in Millbrook. The Coosa and Alabama Rivers are located on the eastern side of the city. Scenic Lake Martin and Lake Jordan are minutes away. Mill Creek meanders through the center of the Village Green, Millbrook’s downtown park.

A recent addition to Millbrook, the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) and Alabama Nature Center (ANC) located on the 300 acre Lanark estate, features boardwalks, trails, pavilions and historic buildings. The AWF grounds and facilities are important community assets adding to the quality of life in the Millbrook area.
Recreational venues are available throughout the area. The nationally acclaimed Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Capitol Hill is a short drive from Millbrook. Other golf courses serving the area include a municipal course, The Pines, as well as numerous courses located throughout Elmore County. Within the city, recent recreational additions include the historic Robinson Springs Park, softball and football complexes and improvements to the Village Green, Millbrook’s downtown park.

Millbrook promotes a genuine sense of community and offers plenty of opportunities for civic involvement. Numerous civic and service organizations are credited with contributing to the orderly growth of the city. More than 50 churches representing most major religious denominations are an important part of community life.
